「STEEL BALL RUN」は「ジョジョの奇妙な冒険」第7部として、2004年より週刊少年ジャンプ（集英社）にて連載開始。その後掲載誌をウルトラジャンプに移し、約6 年半にわたり連載された。単行本は23巻が5月19日、最終24巻が6月3日、と2カ月連続でリリースされる。

第8部となる「ジョジョの 奇妙な冒険 ジョジョリオン」は、早くも5月19日発売の次号ウルトラジャンプ6月号よりスタート。第4部「ダイヤモンドは砕けない」の舞台・S市杜王町で物語が繰り 広げられる。

今曲は「うさぎドロップ」のための書きお ろし新曲で、8月20日より全国公開される、松山ケンイチ主演、香里奈、芦田愛菜共演の実写映画『うさぎドロップ』にも同じ主題歌が使用される。同時期に 公開される実写映画とTVアニメで同じ主題歌を使用するのは、TVアニメ初の試みなのだ。
