毎年夏に名古屋で開催され、世界のコスプレファンが集結する一大イベントとして恒例になった「世界コスプレサミット」。10周年を迎えるアニバーサリーイヤーの今年は、世界19カ国の各国予選を勝ち抜いたコスプレイヤーたちが、コスプレパフォーマンスの頂点を目指して集結する。現在、日本代表1組を決定する日本代表選考会エントリーを受付中だ。

同イベントは、2003年に第1回を開催し、今年で10年目を迎える。初年度は3か国から5人が参加した大会も、昨年は世界17か国、総勢34人のコスプレイヤーが日本を訪れるまでに成長。舞台でパフォーマンスを行い、グランドチャンピオンを決める「世界コスプレチャンピオンシップ」や、名古屋の大須商店街を、各国の代表者と一般のコスプレイヤーたちが練り歩く「大須コスプレパレード」など、今や夏の風物詩として地元に浸透している。

日本代表決定までの流れは、まず大阪、東京、WEB上で行われる各選考会で予選出場者を選出。その後、大阪2組、東京3組、WEB上1組の計6組が、愛知県名古屋市で開催される名古屋最終決戦(日時未定)に進む。その中から、本大会に日本代表として出場できるのはたった1組。日本の漫画やアニメが好きなコスプレイヤーが集う大会だけに、“ホーム”である日本代表枠は狭き門と言える。

現在、大阪予選は募集を終了しているが、東京予選は4月9日(月)、WEB予選は最長で5月18日(金)までエントリーを受付中だ。今からでも名古屋最終決戦に出場できるチャンスは十分！
