親子ふたりの人物像、絆が、ドキュメンタリーとして語られた。2011年8月にNHKで放映された「NHK　ふたり／コクリコ坂・父と子の300日戦争～宮崎駿×宮崎吾朗～」である。

「ふたり」は、2011年7月に劇場公開された映画『コクリコ坂』の制作過程の取材を通じて、映画にかける2人の情熱と親子関係が描かれる。テレビ放映時には、大きな話題を呼んだ番組だ。
このドキュメンタリーが、、Blu-ray DiscとDVDになる。ウォルト・ディズニー・スタジオ・ジャパンの「ジブリがいっぱいCOLLECTIONスペシャル」の最新タイトルとして5月16日に発売される。Blu-ray Discは4935円(税込)、DVDは3990円(税込)となる。

ドキュメンタリーの見どころは盛りだくさんだ。ひとつは番組の中核テーマとなっている宮崎親子の物語である。2006年に宮崎吾朗監督が『ゲド戦記』の監督を務めることになった際に、宮崎駿監督が強く反対したことはよく知られた話だ。その後、ふたりの気持ちのすれ違いは続き、今回の映画『コクリコ坂から』に至る。
企画・脚本を宮崎駿、監督は宮崎吾朗が担当するふたりの初めての合作となっている。複雑な関係は本作でも続く、時にはぶつかりあい、反発する。一方で、映画を作るという同じ仕事に向かってふたりは情熱を燃やす。

300日、10ヶ月に及ぶ取材は、アニメ制作を通じた親子関係、そしてさらに親子を描くことで今度はアニメ制作とは何かが浮かび上がって来る秀逸な番組を生みだした。
さらに制作途中の3月11日には、東日本大震災が発生する。混乱する現場を一喝した駿監督と映画を完成させる吾朗監督が考えた決断も、ドキュメンタリーならではの重みで伝わる。アニメファン、映画ファンはもちろん、多くの人にとって興味深く、そして考えさせられる作品でないだろうか。
